COLUMBUS - Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell yesterday predicted 69 per cent of the state's registered voters will turn out at the polls Tuesday.

That's 8 percentage points lower than in 1992, the last time no incumbent president was on the ballot, and 1 point higher than when President Clinton was re-elected in 1996.

But with a record 7.5 million registered voters, nearly 150,000 more people could turn out to vote than in 1992.

“I commend the noble efforts of the numerous community and professional organizations that have worked tirelessly to register Ohioans to vote,” said Mr. Blackwell. “I strongly encourage all registered voters to exercise their most sacred civil right and vote on Nov. 7.”

Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
