SANDUSKY - A Cedar Point police officer struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday was in fair condition yesterday in Medical College of Ohio Hospitals in Toledo.

Officer James Brian Mox, 22, suffered broken bones and injuries to his shoulder and knee.

The driver, who authorities declined to identify, drove away after hitting Mr. Mox, who tried to stop the vehicle that was traveling on Chausee Drive into the parking lot of the closed amusement park. Mr. Mox was hit as he stepped out of the toll booth.

A Cedar Point spokesman said the investigation has been turned over to Sandusky authorities. A Sandusky police detective said the accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed. The driver and his passenger were stopped by police.
