FREMONT - A Fremont man has been sentenced to five years of community control for separate incidents of vandalizing a church and assaulting a police officer.
Juan Gonzalez, 22, pleaded guilty to damaging furnishings at St. Joseph's Church and a window and door of the county courthouse April 19. He was ordered to pay restitution of $7,500 to the church and $200 for the courthouse damage.
He was ordered to have no contact with the church and to undergo counseling.
Gonzalez also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer when he was stopped and arrested May 19 on a theft warrant.
