New Main Street bridge set to open in Findlay

11/30/2000

FINDLAY - The new $1.4 million Main Street bridge will open with a ceremony at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Mayor John Stozich said.

The project had been fraught with delays since the old span was closed May 1. They included heavy rainfall in the summer and problems the contractor ran into with the temporary dams it used to divert water from the work area.

The span was to have been finished in early September.

City council members and county commissioners will walk across the bridge, and a chamber group will cut a ribbon.

Mr. Stozich said as of noon tomorrow, angled parking will no longer be allowed between Front Street and the bridge, because it will interfere with bridge traffic.
