Woman killed in 2-car crash in Wood Co.

FOSTORIA - A Fostoria woman was killed and another was hurt seriously in a two-car head-on collision Wednesday night on icy State Rt. 199 in Wood County's Perry Township.

Mary J. Walter, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the accident, which occurred about 11:10 p.m., a trooper at the Ohio Highway Patrol's Walbridge post said.

Sherrie R. Stein, 29, was taken to the Medical College of Ohio Hospitals and was in seroius condition with undisclosed injuries.

Ms. Stein, who was driving a 1997 Chrysler Concorde, was northbound on route 199 about two and a half miles northwest of Fostoria when her car collided with Ms. Walter's 1988 Oldsmobile, which slid across the center line on the icy pavement at the curve there, reports said.

Neither of the women had passengers, troopers said. The accident remains under investigation.
