B.G. police officer to get Red Cross lifesaving award

BOWLING GREEN - A city police officer who helped save the life of a teenager who was choking will be recognized by the Wood County District Office of the American Red Cross tonight.

Officer Scott Smith is credited with saving the teen while on duty in June. The incident occurred three weeks after he had taken a Red Cross CPR course.

The Red Cross will present a "Lifesaving Award for the Professional Responder" to Officer Smith at Bowling Green's city council meeting.
