Animal remains identified as fox, coyote, and dog

Two of the animal carcasses found Thursday in Otter Creek in the 200 block of Taylor Road in Oregon have been identified as that of a coyote and a red fox, both indigenous to northwest Ohio, Oregon police said yesterday.

The third was the body of a domestic dog, which apparently was struck by a vehicle and came to rest in the same area where the other carcasses had been discarded, police said.

The coyote and the red fox may have been left by a taxidermist or someone learning the craft, said Greg Bloomfield, executive director of the Toledo Humane Society, which is investigating the discovery.

Mr. Bloomfield said there was no indication that the wild animals - missing heads, fur, and paws - were killed as part of cult activity.
