Carpenters' union breaks ground on $5M project

3/22/2001

The carpenters' union that loaned $2.4 million to Rossford to help get construction going on the arena-amphitheater project broke ground yesterday in the Crossroads of America on its $5 million project.

The Northwest Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters Union is building a 15,000-sq. ft. administration building and a 43,000- sq. ft. joint labor-management training center on East Arena Drive, north of the half-built amphitheater.

Bob Bernius, executive secretary treasurer of the carpenters' council, said the training center will be completed by Oct. 1 and the administration building by the end of October. The two facilities, currently located in Toledo, are moving to a centrally located site to better serve the 19 counties represented by the union, Mr. Bernius said.
