I-75 projects to slow traffic at 2 locations

3/22/2001

Bridge maintenance in North Toledo and continuing construction in Northwood will cause traffic disruptions today for motorists on I-75.

For periods of up to 10 minutes, traffic will be halted at the Wales Road overpass in Northwood between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. while workers take down wooden scaffolding from the bridge, which is being dismantled for replacement. Motorists should consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

Maintenance on the I-75 bridge over the Ottawa River will require lane closings starting today and continuing through next week. Starting at 3 p.m. today, the right lane in each direction will be closed until Saturday morning.

From Saturday morning until before the Monday rush hour, two lanes will be closed in each direction. The Ohio Department of Transportation has advised motorists to consider using U.S. 23 and I-94 to bypass the site, since congestion is likely, especially on Sunday afternoon.

Left-lane closings will persist next week at the bridge, but at least two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction after the weekend, ODOT said.
