A East Toledo man was hurt seriously yesterday after he apparently fell asleep in his car, drifted across the center line, and struck another vehicle head on, police said.

Clyde R. Goetz, 46, of Earl Street was admitted to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in serious condition.

Mr. Goetz was southbound on Oak Street near Fassett Street about 7 a.m. when his car struck a northbound vehicle driven by Linda Folger, 45, of the Anthony Wayne Trail, Waterville. Ms. Folger sustained a broken toe and did not need to be hospitalized, police said.

Mr. Goetz's car ended up in the front yard of 935 Oak, while Ms. Folger's vehicle spun around on Oak, police said.
