The man whose body was pulled from a car Friday night after it plunged into the Maumee River in Oregon has been identified as Robert James Arildsen, 32, of Roseville, Mich., Oregon police said.

Dr. Cynthia Beisser, Lucas County deputy coroner, said an autopsy conducted yesterday confirmed he drowned.

Mr. Arildsen's body was retrieved by Jerusalem Township firefighters about 8 p.m. from the car that went into the river at the TORCO iron ore docks off Otter Creek and Bay Shore roads. Dock workers reported seeing the car traveling toward the water at a high rate of speed before losing sight of it, police said.
