2 lawyers temporarily fill Woodville judge vacancy

4/3/2001

WOODVILLE - Two Gibsonburg attorneys are hearing cases in Sandusky County Court No. 2 as visiting judges in the wake of Sunday's retirement by longtime Judge John Hunter.

Barbara Ansted and Herbert Adams have been interviewed by Governor Taft for appointment to the judgeship on an acting basis through the end of 2002, said Linda Hager, the court's office supervisor.

The governor is expected to appoint Mr. Adams or Ms. Ansted, both Republicans, in the next few weeks.

Whoever is named to the seat will have to seek election in November, 2002, to fill the rest of the unexpired term, which runs through 2006.

Judge Hunter, a Democrat who was appointed to the bench in 1973 by Gov. John Gilligan, retired because of illness.
