Animal agency opens Woodville Mall site

The Toledo Area Humane Society has opened a site at the Woodville Mall where pets will be available for adoption.

Greg Bloomfield, director of the society, said a site at North Towne Mall has been successful, so a three-month test for a site at the Woodville Mall will be tried. He said the society determined an adoption rate of 10 animals a week would make the investment worthwhile. North Towne has averaged 40 adoptions a month.

The addition of two sites has helped ease crowding at the society's headquarters on Indian Wood Circle in Maumee. The site was getting more animals than in the past because the Lucas County dog warden has begun to send his adoptable but unclaimed animals there.

The Woodville Mall site is open from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
