Firm shuts down, slowing project in Ottawa County

OAK HARBOR - A centerpiece in Ottawa County's economic development plan has been delayed because a contractor has gone out of business.

The opening of the Community Resource Center, which is going up next to the Lake Winds Industrial Park along State Rt. 163, will be delayed until late July because a Whitehouse plumbing company, K&B Mechanical, has shut its doors. A Fremont firm will finish some work, and the rest will be put up for bid.

The $2.46 million building, with 25,700 square feet, will house the Ottawa County department of job and family services, the county's Community Improvement Corp., and a "jobs store'' that will help match employers and job-seekers.
