Erie MetroParks plans walking path extension

4/24/2001

HURON, Ohio - The Erie MetroParks district plans to start work in June on the second phase of a walking path at Osborn Park.

Jonathan Granville, director of the park district, said the section of crushed, compacted limestone, 10 feet wide and 3,500 feet long, should ready for visitors to use by mid or late summer. It will complete a loop around the park's sports fields and offices that was started in 1999 with construction of a 1,500-foot section.

Mr. Granville said the $26,800 cost to extend the path includes a $10,000 grant from the Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation, a matching amount from the parks district, and stone from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
