FINDLAY - The board that oversees the Blanchard Valley Center voted 5-1 yesterday to ask the Ohio Supreme Court to decide the legality of the appointment of one of their members by Hancock County commissioners.
Jo Ann Reeds, a former Findlay city schools board member, was appointed to the Hancock County Board of Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities on Jan. 1.
Ms. Reeds is a consultant to the Hancock County Educational Services Center, and parents of some Blanchard Valley clients contend that is a conflict of interest.
Blanchard Valley, which serves mentally retarded children and adults in the county, contracts with the educational services center for some services.
