Forgery, theft trial slated for ex-nurse in Paulding

PAULDING - A former Paulding County Hospital nurse charged with forging her nursing license will go on trial July 5 in Common Pleas Court.

Carol Goyings, 38, of Paulding pleaded no contest March 9 to one count each of forgery and theft, but recently asked the court to withdraw those pleas.

Yesterday, visiting Judge Randall Basinger of Putnam County granted her request and scheduled the trial.

Ms. Goyings, who was a registered nurse at the hospital for five years, claimed she did not have enough time to consider a plea bargain offered by the county prosecutor before making her decision. She is charged with two counts of forgery and one count of grand theft for falsifying her license and taking $146,625 in wages from the hospital.
