The ship Algowest glides through the raised Craig Memorial Bridge while U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) speaks during a groundbreaking for a new, high-level bridge while Gordon Proctor, Ohio Department of Transportation director, and state Sen. Linda Furney (D., Toledo) look on.

Miss Kaptur said the cable-stayed bridge, which will allow I-280 traffic to cross the Maumee River without stopping for ships, will be a landmark for all of North America.

Other speakers yesterday included Governor Taft and Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner.
