Convict escapes in Findlay on way to Michigan prison

FINDLAY - A man serving a sentence for armed robbery escaped early yesterday while being transferred to a Michigan prison.

Joseph Charles Leveque III, 27, was inside the BP gas station at 800 West Trenton Ave. in Findlay, where troopers stopped during their trip from Bowling Green, Ky. to Standish, Mich., about 1:15 a.m. when he escaped. He was in handcuffs and had a chain around his waist.

Leveque was last seen running north from the gas station. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, has blue eyes and brown hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a blue buttoned prison shirt. Authorities asked that anybody with information about Leveque's whereabouts call police.
