ODOT to host meeting on Marsh Road intersection

6/18/2001

VAN WERT - The potential traffic implications of a proposed retail development north of town will be the subject of an Ohio Department of Transportation meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Prudential DickinsonHughes Commercial Services, of Indianapolis, is proposing a commercial complex on the north side of U.S. 30 between U.S. 127 and Marsh Road. ODOT is considering changes to the Marsh Road intersection with U.S. 30, including building an overpass for the road or dead-ending it on either side of the main highway.

The Marsh Road intersection already has one of the area's worst accident rates, said Norman Redick, ODOT's district deputy director in Lima. The state's preferred alternative, Mr. Redick said, is to build the $1.2 million bridge, which would eliminate access between Marsh Road and U.S. 30 but still allow traffic to cross.

The meeting will be in the Cup and Saucer Room at Vantage Vocational School, 818 North Franklin St., Van Wert.
