2nd phase of U.S. 30 work to get under way July 18

7/9/2001

NEVADA, Ohio - The second phase of a five-part package to turn U.S. 30 into a limited-access highway officially will begin July 18 with a groundbreaking on the Wyandot-Crawford county line.

The 2:45 p.m. ceremony will be attended by Governor Taft and state transportation officials at a site on Township Road 10, two miles south of U.S. 30.

Construction of three county road bridges associated with the $75 million project is under way and is expected to be completed in 2003.

The U.S. 30 reconstruction project is designed to replace parts of the two-lane, accident-plagued sections of U.S. 30 that run east-west across Ohio.

The first portion from Beaverdam in Allen County to State Rt. 235 in Hancock County was opened in 1999. The five projects are intended to replace the two-lane portions of U.S. 30 that run through northwest Ohio.
