Fostoria grapples with $1.16M shortfall

7/9/2001

FOSTORIA - The city's 2002 general fund budget is showing a $1.16 million deficit, and city leaders have scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss it.

The budget has been depleted by an increase in expenditures, officials said.

Mayor John Davoli organized a meeting of city departments heads for this morning. He said possible cuts in spending would be discussed at the meeting.

As a result of the deficit, council members last week rejected a proposal to increase their annual pay to $4,000 from $3,000 a year.
