The Law Enforcement Committee of the Community Partnership has given $13,500 in grants to local law enforcement agencies to target underage access to alcohol.

Beginning in August, the money will be used to monitor sales of alcohol to minors at convenience stores and open-air festivals, and to conduct stings at taverns and clubs, said Deacon Dzierzawald, executive director of the group.

The law enforcement agencies and amounts received are: Lucas County sheriff, $3,753; Maumee police, $1,686; Oregon police, $2,565; Sylvania police, $1,710; Sylvania Township police, $2,834, and Whitehouse police, $950.
