LIMA, Ohio - A Lima doctor accused of giving his ex-girlfriend a prescription drug to cause a miscarriage is to go on trial beginning Oct. 2 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in Dayton.

The trial date was slated this week when the court overruled a motion by Dr. Maynard Muntzing to suppress statements he made to police before retaining an attorney and to suppress video footage of him allegedly tampering with a drink and being arrested.

Dr. Muntzing, who has asked for a change of venue, is confronted with 16 felony counts, including attempted murder, for allegedly placing Cytotec into the beverage of Michelle Baker, 33, of Huber Heights, who was pregnant with his child.

Dr. Muntzing's wife, Tammy, is charged with helping carry out the plan. Her case has not been scheduled for trial.
