Port Clinton to obtain ferry terminal building

7/26/2001

PORT CLINTON - The city will acquire the ferry terminal building used by Jet Express under terms of a lease agreement with the Put-in-Bay Boat Line.

Under the terms of the 1993 contract, the ferry line would give the building to the city, provided it is not used by a competing ferry boat service.

The Jet Express moved operations farther up the Portage River June 13 after it failed to reach an agreement over a new lease.

The city owns the land, while the terminal belongs to the boat company.

The Put-in-Bay Boat Line's lease expires at the end of 2003. It will be responsible for the $10,000 annual payment unless another tenant is found before that time, Law Director George Wilber told city council Tuesday.
