FINDLAY - The Hancock County Commissioners yesterday appointed a deputy clerk in the county treasurer's office to serve as acting treasurer.
Wanda Winters will fill the office held by long-time county Treasurer J.R. Brondes who announced July 1 that he would retire effective yesterday. Mr. Brondes, who was re-elected to a four-year term in November, was treasurer for 16 years.
Ms. Winters will serve as acting treasurer until the Hancock County Republican Central Committee names a successor. The next election for county treasurer will be November, 2002.
