Norwalk crash kills woman, 2 grandchildren

8/3/2001

NORWALK - The three people killed in a collision near Norwalk were a Huron County woman and her two granddaughters, who were on their way to a swimming outing, authorities said yesterday.

The Norwalk post of the Ohio Highway Patrol tentatively identified the victims as Maya Borostyan, 66, of Greenwich, Ohio, and Reyna Pugnea, 16, and Triana Pugnea, 14, of Danville, Ohio. The girls were visiting Mrs. Borostyan and apparently were headed for Norwalk when the crash occurred Wednesday afternoon

According to troopers, Mrs. Borostyan was northbound on U.S. 250 when her car went left-of-center and struck a southbound semi-tractor driven by Robert McGuire, 57, of Jeromesville, Ohio. The three occupants were trapped in the car, which caught fire.

Mr. McGuire was not hurt. The crash remained under investigation yesterday.
