WAUSEON, Ohio - A 56-year-old Adrian woman was hurt seriously yesterday when the car she was driving on State Rt. 108, near here, was struck by a tractor-trailer.

State troopers said she was trying to avoid a pickup truck that was backing out of the Fulton County Fairgrounds, just north of the Ohio Turnpike.

The woman, whose name was not being released pending notification of family members, was flown to the Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, where she was in serious condition last night, troopers at the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Michael J. Warren, of Shipshewana, Ind., the driver of the pickup truck, and Elden W. Behrman, 59, of Napoleon, the driver of the semi, were not seriously hurt.

The car driven by the woman was southbound on Rt. 108 about 2:20 p.m. when it crossed the centerline as the pickup truck, which was hauling a utility vehicle, backed into the southbound lane of the highway. The car collided with the northbound semi, troopers said.
