FINDLAY - Officials are planning to turn part of a south-side park here into a disaster area.
A mock crash between a train and a tractor-trailer rig will be staged today at Emory Adams Park to draw attention to railroad crossing safety issues. The event is being sponsored by the Ohio Trucking Association, CSX Transportation and Ohio Operation Lifesaver.
Between 150-200 drivers and safety professionals from the trucking industry will participate. The event's goal is to prevent crashes at railroad crossings, Shel Senek, Operation Lifesaver's state coordinator, said.
Ohio ranks fifth in the nation in car-train crashes and 10th in the nation for fatalities involving vehicles and trains.
