FREMONT - A Fremont couple who owned a restaurant that burned down on Feb. 5 have been indicted by a Sandusky County grand jury on state tax charges.

Richard Heyman, 50, and his wife, Jan, 52, face eight counts each of collecting and failing to remit sales tax from March to October, 2000, and one count of collecting and failing to remit holding taxes for December, 2000. They also face a theft count for failing to remit funds belonging to the Ohio Department of Taxation.

They will be arraigned Nov. 14 before Judge Harry Sargeant.

A fire caused $600,000 in damage to the J. Patrick O'Flaherty's restaurant on U.S. 6 in Ballville Township. The state fire marshal's office continues to investigate the cause.
