Program escapee returns to Hancock County jail

11/3/2001

FINDLAY - An inmate who walked away from a Hancock County office where he was picking up recyclables Thursday turned himself in yesterday at the jail.

Brock Burton, 23, of Findlay was charged with felony escape, according to Hancock County Sheriff Mike Heldman. He is back in jail but no longer will participate in the work program.

Sheriff Heldman said nonviolent criminal offenders who pass a screening process can work for local agencies that request the help. They are not supervised by a deputy.

Mr. Burton, who was serving six months for a misdemeanor drug conviction, had been in the work program since September.
