A Toledo man driving a motorcycle was killed and his female passenger was hurt when they crashed trying to avoid a car yesterday on Monroe Street near Detroit Avenue in the central city, police said.

Donald J. Keller, Jr., 39, 4114 Hermosa Ave., the motorcyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene. His female passenger, Omega Jackson, 21, of 3510 Monroe Street, was transported to Toledo Hospital, where she was in fair condition. Thomas W. Chisholm, 34, 631 Acklin Ave., the driver of the car, was not injured.

Mr. Keller was riding a motorcycle in the northwesterly direction in the 3100 block of Monroe Street about 5:40 p.m. when he tried to avoid striking the car driven by Mr. Chisolm, who was exiting the driveway at Wendy's, 3124 Monroe. The car came to a stop, at which time Mr. Keller's head struck the car. Ms. Jackson slid under the car, police said.
