Sandusky County farmer joins race for House seat

12/6/2001

FREMONT - A Sandusky County farmer who works at the Brush Wellman plant in Elmore has become the third candidate to join the race to replace state Rep. Rex Damschroder (R., Fremont) next year.

Jay Thatcher, a Republican from Helena, is circulating petitions for the 81st House district seat.

So far, Fostoria businessman Charles Knight and Seneca County Commissioner Jeff Wagner, also Republicans, have announced their intentions to run in the May, 2002, primary election.

Mr. Damschroder, who has held the 81st district seat since 1995, cannot run for re-election because of term limits.
