9 arrested as police search of house yields drugs, cash

Nine people were arrested and more than $20,000 in cash and about $350 in drugs were seized during a search of a residence at 1845 Georgia Ave., police said.

Three people fled from the house when directed patrol officers entered about 11:55 p.m. Thursday. They were caught and one person was found hiding behind a stove.

Police recovered $20,005 from Albert Weathers, 35, of 1407 Upton Ave. He was charged with misdemeanor drug abuse and obstructing official business. He was released from the Lucas County jail after posting a $150 bond.

Officers seized about $100 worth of crack cocaine, $200 worth of powder cocaine, $50 worth of marijuana, several pieces of drug paraphernalia, and $694 from the residence. The other eight people who were arrested range in age from 17 to 49 and are from Toledo, many living at the Georgia address. The charges ranged from misdemeanor offenses, some of which were unrelated, to felony drug abuse, police said.
