Court center addition takes shape

A $1.4 million expansion and renovation of the Wood County juvenile court center on East Gypsy Lane Road is continuing with completion expected in September.

The addition on the building's west side will house a courtroom and judge's office and office space for the probation department. The project also is intended to improve security and privacy for those who use the court.

The center was built in 1974 but no longer meets county needs because caseloads and programming have increased since then, says Timothy Brown, its executive director.
