Delta seeks bids on water plant equipment

2/22/2002

DELTA - Village Council voted unanimously Wednesday to advertise for bids next month to spend more than $1.4 million on equipment for the local water plant.

The vote occurred after village Administrator Gary Baker and Mayor Donald Gerdes had asked council to pass an ordinance that would have allowed them to enter into contracts without advertising for competitive bids. They had asked to do this so there wouldn't be any delays to the project.

With council's vote, Mr. Baker said yesterday that there will be about a two to three-month delay in the upgrades. He said the village will advertise for bids March 26 and open them April 18.
