ODOT cancels weekend closings of Maumee bridge

The Ohio Department of Transportation has cancelled all weekend closings of the Maumee-Perrysburg bridge for beam placement on the new bridge that will replace it.

ODOT had scheduled 48-hour closings of the bridge for three weekends, starting tomorrow. But the contractor building the new structure, Mosser Construction of Fremont, worked out ways to swing the steel beams into place that do not require placing a crane on the existing bridge.

The transportation department previously announced that this weekend's closing was cancelled, and yesterday it called off the remaining two closings.
