The death of a 71-year-old Cincinnati man who drowned Monday in the Maumee River has been ruled accidental, Dr. Douglas Hess, Wood County coroner, said yesterday.

The victim was identified as Alex Tyler. His body was found Tuesday near the southern tip of an island at the base of Fort Meigs State Park.

Mr. Tyler and two other Cincinnati men fell into the water late Monday morning after their 15-foot aluminum rowboat capsized during a fishing trip.

The two others, William Mundon, 78, and Ralph Foster, 77, were able to get to shore. The men had floatation devices in the boat, but did not wear them.
