Kalida couple's $250,000 added to Putnam YMCA

4/18/2002

OTTAWA, Ohio - A Kalida couple has added $250,000 to the effort to raise $3.5 million for a new Putnam County YMCA.

Richard and Gladys Unverferth own Unverferth Manufacturing in Kalida, an agricultural equipment manufacturer, and co-own HCF, Inc., a nursing-home company.

In addition to private and corporate contributions, the YMCA will be built with $1.5 million in services and property from the village of Ottawa.

In exchange, the two entities are working out a plan under which the YMCA will manage the village's recreational programs and facilities, including the swimming pool, for 40 years.
