Wood County adopts flag for bicentennial display

5/2/2002

BOWLING GREEN - By a 3-0 vote yesterday, Wood County commissioners adopted the county's first official flag.

The flag was designed by the county's buildings and grounds committee to fulfill the Ohio Bicentennial Commission's request that each county have a flag for display at the Statehouse in 2003.

Wood County's flag has a blue background and shows a gold silhouette of the state with Wood County in red and the year the county was established, 1820.

Nineteen white stars, which represent the 19 townships, surround the silhouette of the state.
