STRYKER, Ohio - Deputies from the Lucas County Sheriff's Department have retrieved an inmate who was mistakenly released from a jail transportation bus.

Christopher Scott Manuel, 31, of Toledo was allowed off a Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio bus when it arrived at the Lucas County jail at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. There were 31 people on the bus, with 20 scheduled for a court appearance, seven to be released, and the rest, including Manuel, to be transported to other facilities.

Manuel was to be sent to the county jail until he could be transferred to a state prison to serve a three-year child-endangerment sentence. On Wednesday, he received his sentence for striking a 19-month-old girl in the head with footwear in August. On June 9, he also received two sentences of 30 and 25 days for separate counts of passing bad checks.

He was taken into custody early Thursday afternoon. The incident remains under investigation by CCNO.
