Barn-raising to set up base for bicentennial festivities

6/29/2002

FINDLAY — As a kickoff to the local celebration of Ohio's bicentennial, an old-fashioned barn-raising will be held at Litzenberg Memorial Woods today.

Several new structures are planned by the Hancock Park District for bicentennial programming in 2003 . To be constructed are a wagon shed, wood shop, and a chicken coop built with reclaimed timber and siding that was once part of old barns that were torn down.

Dan Masters of Illinois, a master barn builder, will lead the effort with local volunteers assisting. The work begins at 8:30 a.m.
