New Boston driver killed in Monroe-area collision

CARLETON, Mich. — A 20-year-old man from New Boston, Mich., was killed when he drove his car through a stop sign and into the path of a minivan in rural Ash Township, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said yesterday.

Brian Huddleston was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday. The driver of the minivan, Lonnie McComas, 57, of Carleton, was transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, where she was treated and released.

Deputies said Mr. Huddleston was driving northbound on Calkins Road about 4:35 p.m. when he ran the stop sign at Ready Road. The accident remains under investigation, deputies said.
