Northwest Ohioans among new state VFW officers

COLUMBUS — The 105,000-member Ohio Department of the Veterans of Foreign Wars elected new officers, including two men from northwest Ohio.

Keith Harmon of Delphos was elected junior vice commander in line to advance to commander in 2004. He served in Vietnam as a door gunner and helicopter crew chief.

Cliff Bauer of Defiance was elected judge advocate. He also is a Vietnam veteran.

The new department commander is George Durinka of Parma. Mr. Durinka, a civil-engineering draftsman and marital arts instructor, will assume office today. He has served in VFW offices for 35 years.
