Lima man faces charges of buying guns for others

7/15/2002

LIMA, Ohio — A Lima man has been accused by federal prosecutors of stating on a disclosure form that he was buying firearms for himself when he was really purchasing them for someone else.

Kenneth Bulls, 29, was indicted on two counts of making false statements in the purchase of a firearm, said Thomas Weldon, an assistant U.S. attorney.

Mr. Weldon said Mr. Bulls bought four semi-automatic handguns in 1999 at an Allen County gun show and four more handguns at the same gun show in 2000.

Mr. Weldon said all of the guns were purchased for someone else even though Mr. Bulls stated he was the purchaser.

Each charge carries a potential penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
