FOSTORIA - A former Seneca County assistant prosecutor has been placed on a year's probation after his arrest in May on drunken-driving charges.

Chad Mulkey, 28, pleaded no contest Tuesday in Fostoria Municipal Court to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, driving left of center, speeding, and reckless operation. The latter charge was reduced from a felony count of fleeing and eluding.

Besides probation, Mr. Mulkey was sentenced to three days in jail, which Judge John Hadacek suspended; fined $350, and ordered to enter a driver intervention program. In addition, his driver's license was suspended.

Mr. Mulkey was arrested May 12 after allegedly fleeing an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper at speeds above 80 mph. He was fired by Seneca County Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr. He works for the Toledo law firm of Cole & Associates.
