Sandusky man, 23, to be arraigned on murder count

SANDUSKY - A local man will be arraigned in Erie County Common Pleas Court today after he was indicted this week on nine counts in connection with a Sandusky woman's death.

Brandon Holt, 23, faces the death penalty for the fatal beating and multiple stabbing of Deborah Jensen, 48, who was found dead in her home June 27. Authorities found the body after she failed to show up for work at the county humane society, where she was a shelter manager.

Holt faces two counts of aggravated murder, three counts of rape, and one count each of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the county jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

County Prosecutor Kevin Baxter said yesterday that Holt and Mr. Baxter had known each other for about two years. But Mr. Baxter said Holt allegedly entered the victim's home without her consent.

Mr. Baxter said authorities believe robbery was the motive for the killing. Several items, including a small amount of money and some personal items, were taken from the residence. Holt was arrested on July 16 after being questioned by police. Mr. Baxter said Holt has confessed to the killing.
