HURON, Ohio - A body believed to be of a missing Lorain, Ohio, man last seen piloting a sailboat on Lake Erie was found washed ashore yesterday near here, Erie County sheriff's deputies said.

Deputies said the body was found about 1:30 p.m. lodged in the rocks along the shoreline a mile east of Huron.

Firefighters from Berlin and Huron townships and rescue workers from North Center Emergency Medical Service recovered the decomposed body. An autopsy has been ordered and positive identification is expected to take several weeks to complete.

David B. Rush, 38, of Lorain was reported missing Aug. 3 after his sailboat was found drifting and abandoned on Lake Erie between Kelleys Island and Marblehead, some 25 miles west from where the body was recovered.

Mr. Rush had departed Lorain marina earlier that day and reportedly was sailing to the Johnson's Island area of Ottawa County.
