SANDUSKY - One man died and six people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash late Saturday in Erie County's Milan Township, just south of here.

Joshua Schreck, 17, of Sandusky, a passenger in a car driven by Carol Ann Christie, 28, of Sandusky, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Christie was treated at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

Three other Sandusky residents in the Christie vehicle were injured. James Grimes, 42, was in fair condition yesterday and Savannah D. Rivas, 6, was in serious condition, both at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Keiten A. Christie, 2, was treated at Firelands.

The crash occurred about 11 p.m. on U.S. 250 in a construction zone near Sheid Road, according to the Sandusky post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. Ms. Christie was northbound and lost control of her car, which went off the right side of U.S. 250. As she tried to gain control of her car, she hit a southbound pickup driven by Timothy L. Barnhart, Jr., 17, of Streesboro, Ohio. He was not hurt, troopers said.

Ms. Christie's car then collided head-on with a southbound minivan driven by Julie Barnhart, 42, also of Streetsboro. Ms. Barnhart and a passenger in her minivan, Jason A. Cook, 10, also of Streesboro, were treated at Fisher-Titus Hospital.

The crash closed portions of U.S. 250 for 21/2 hours, troopers said.
