Construction crews are dwarfed by the clock, above, as they work on the 185-foot stone tower of the Wood County Courthouse in Bowling Green, which is undergoing a $2.9 million face-lift, at right. Plans for the project have been in the works for five years and include replacing the original clay tile roof and repairing the sandstone exterior. The courthouse, built in the mid-1890s for less than $25,000, has many attributes including murals, one of which depicts the oil fields that were a substantial county revenue source years ago.
